The King of Fighters '97 is a bootleg Famicom fighting game based on SNK's King of Fighters series. Although it is named after the legitimate KoF '97 release, the roster is not specifically tethered to the official game's cast, and in fact includes Eiji Kisaragi, who was not in '97. Based on the intro sequence, it seems to be more affiliated with the legitimate The King of Fighters '95 title.
Title screen hacks called The King of Fighters '98 and The King of Fighters '99 exist, but have no change in the game itself.
